How it works

You can access Franc through the mobile app or web platform. The sign-up process is quick and completely digital; you don't have to fill in any forms or stand in queues at a branch. Once you're in, you'll be asked a few simple questions about your goals and how comfortable you are with risk. Based on your answers, we'll guide you to the most suitable investment strategy.

The app is designed around creating clear, focused goals, like saving for an emergency fund, a holiday, or investing for your child's education. Each goal is backed by one or more funds, selected to match your timeline and risk preference.

You can invest into your goal at any time by making a deposit via EFT or using our in-app Instant EFT feature. We also have an option to deposit via ATM. There are no minimum deposits required, though some funds have a minimum of R125 to buy a unit. If you invest less, the money will stay in cash until there's enough to buy into the fund, or be invested in an alternative fund.

Withdrawals are just as easy. You can take your money out whenever you need it without penalties. Depending on your bank, your funds will typically reflect within 2-5 business days, and sooner if you opt for a Quick Withdrawal.

To keep your account secure, Franc uses bank-level encryption and gives you the option to enable biometric login. We never sell your data, and all your information is protected in line with POPIA and FSCA regulations.

Franc is available to South African residents with a valid ID or passport and a ZAR-based bank account. If you're based in Namibia, Lesotho or Eswatini, you can still use Franc if you have a valid passport and bank account that allows you to deposit into our South African Nedbank account.

You can download the Franc app on Android, iOS or Huawei AppGallery. Or, if you prefer a bigger screen, sign up and manage your account via our web app.
