Withdrawals
You can access your money at any time, giving you flexibility and control over your funds. Franc offers two withdrawal options: Quick Withdrawals for smaller, urgent needs and Standard Withdrawals for other needs, so you can choose the method that works best for you.
Quick vs Standard Withdrawals
A quick withdrawal lets you access your funds faster than a standard withdrawal:
- Quick withdrawals: typically 1–2 business days
- Standard withdrawals: 2–5 business days
Quick withdrawals are not available for withdrawals from your Franc Tax-Free Savings Account or Retirement Annuity – you can only do a Standard Withdrawal from these funds.
Standard Withdrawal Fees and Limits
You get 4 free Standard Withdrawals in the year – after that, there are certain costs to withdraw your funds:
- After the 4 free Standard Withdrawals, each Standard Withdrawal costs R10 per fund.
- The minimum withdrawal amount is R100 per fund.
- Additional fees may apply if you withdraw to non-South African bank accounts, in which case you may receive a lower amount than expected.
Quick Withdrawal Fees and Limits
The maximum amount you can withdraw using a Quick Withdrawal is R10,000 per fund (after fees). For larger withdrawals, you will need to use the standard withdrawal process.
The quick withdrawal fees are as follows:
- R20 - R510 = R10 fee
- R510 - R1020 = R20 fee
- R1020 - R2030 = R30 fee
- R2030 - R3040 = R40 fee
- R3040 - R4050 = R50 fee
- R4050 - R5060 = R60 fee
- R5060 - R10100 = R100 fee
How to make a withdrawal
To withdraw funds in the app, go to your Portfolio dashboard, select the goal you want to withdraw from, click 'Withdraw', and follow the instructions. If your goal is locked, you'll need to unlock it before you can withdraw your funds.
Please note: You cannot withdraw funds while a deposit is still processing. Make sure your deposit has cleared before attempting a withdrawal.
